Hadestown BIO

Hadestown is a Tony Award-winning musical that has captivated audiences since its Broadway debut in 2019. With music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, this Broadway musical reinterprets the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as a Depression-era industrial fable. The narrative follows Orpheus, a young musician, as he journeys to the underworld to rescue his lover Eurydice from the clutches of Hades. The production has garnered critical acclaim, winning 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

The show is celebrated for its hauntingly beautiful folk-influenced score and visually stunning staging directed by Rachel Chavkin. The current engagement at the Lexington Opera House on April 18, 2027, is part of its ongoing national tour, which began in 2021. Audiences can expect an emotionally charged performance that resonates deeply with themes of love, loss, and economic inequality.

Among its notable songs are "Road to Hell," "Wait for Me," and "Why We Build the Wall," which showcase the musical's rich storytelling through a fully sung-through format. The production's unique aesthetic combines elements of an intimate jazz club with an industrial underworld, enhancing the overall experience.
